REAL TALK Wednesday 19 June 2013

Real Talk is a live, topical and interactive debate show on the OH TV Network attracting globally over 25 million viewers, live phone calls and social networking responses every month. In the vein of “Question Time”, Real Talk is hosted by Award-winning Presenter and Journalist Trish Adudu, alongside a carefully selected panel drawn from all parts of public life.

To kick off the second series this Thursday 12th April, Real Talk will be covering ‘Black Britain Decides’ at The Gourmet Theatre, Kilburn. Here the four main London Mayoral candidates Boris Johnson, Ken Livingstone, Brian Paddick and Jenny Jones will meet in front of a live audience made up of key Black leaders from the church, business, politics, faith groups, activists and the general public.

Real Talk  will be broadcasting live from the event, which will feature interviews with the Mayoral candidates, as well as covering the debate. Throughout the show we will take live tweets, texts and emails. The debate will be followed by a phone-in where the audience will get an opportunity to talk about and react to what they have just seen.

Black Britain Decides will put Real Talk and it’s viewers at the heart of the debate and gives us to opportunity to connect our audience to one of the most politically and cultural significant elections in years.

With viewer interaction at the heart of the programme, Real Talk is a weekly debate show that is setting the agenda and fast becoming the pre-eminent arena for discussion of issues and concerns facing the black diaspora and wider communities. An incendiary show Real Talk ignites debate and discussion not only on-air but online and across the blogosphere. Thus, having the smell, touch and taste of contemporary Black Britain. Using live phone calls, Twitter feeds and emails, Real Talk is the UK’s number one Black debate show...now it’s time for you to have your say!

 

Meet The Programme Team

                   

Asten Regis


Editor Asten Regis is an editor at OHTV. He started out making short films with Friends and got involved in organizing the V-Creative short film festival in North London in 2007, a volunteer organization for young film-makers. Asten began working as an editor assistant for ITV on Hell’s Kitchen in the summer of the same year and many other productions. He also worked as a camera operator assist for Outside Broadcasts in which he worked on the National Movie Awards 2007. With his passion for action films and after training Shaolin Kung Fu in China, Asten started a martial arts stunt team with some of the training partners he meet in China, in which he directs, choreographs, performs and edits the short films the team produces. At OHTV, his editing work includes the Young Achievers series, Real Talk as well as several promotion videos.

Jernice  Easthope


Jernice Easthope, is a freelancer Researcher from Liverpool. Having worked at OH TV on Young Achievers and OH Happy Day, Jernice coordinates all research, guest booking and show logistics as the Senior Research on OH TV’s popular debate show REAL TALK. Jernice has worked previously as a researcher on Ross Kemp’s Gangs and has produced several independent Community issue based documentaries for a urban youth culture company Urbeatz. Jernice is an official partner of One Hundred Global, an Music Management and Consultancy company based in Liverpool and Urbeatz Films.

Mirat  Balkandali


Mirat is one of the leading and inspiring figures within the OH TV family. Previously he has worked for the Islam Channel as a Director, Sound Engineer and Cam Operator specialising in News and Current affairs. Not only is he part of the Studio Management team but he is also the Director behind flagship shows such as “Real Talk”, “Headlines”, “OH Happy Day”, “Telling Tales” and “The Kubi Springer Show”. Being an Audio Engineering specialist he has worked with many high profile acts within the Music Industry as well as in Broadcasting.

Trish Adudu


Trish Adudu is an award-winning TV ideas creator in factual entertainment as well as an experienced and respected TV journalist and presenter. Trish has presented on all the major terrestrial TV channels both in the UK and internationally (digitally) to a global audience. Her spontaneity and engaging attitude led her to become Britain’s first Black terrestrial sports presenter and Daytime Panel Host. Determined to make television that changes people’s lives, she began developing formats and amongst many other things, launched international awareness of parental child abduction with two major acclaimed series on the subject. Trish has a real passion in human interest television and won a Royal Television Award for her moving reunion between two boxers, Michael Watson and Chris Eubank whose epic fight nearly ended in tragedy. Trish also seized upon the opportunity to do an impromptu interview with OJ Simpson ‘pre-trial’ at a UK airport when she spotted him by chance. Trish sold that interview globally- ‘it paid off a few student loans!’’. A busy mum of two, Trish continues to strive to present, produce and create insightful, inventive and thoughtful programming that gets people talking!

VJ Davidson


VJ DAVIDSON, Series Producer & Development Executive, OH TV After a successful 14 year career at the BBC, working on high quality, popular and innovative TV programming (including Horizon, Liquid News, Linford Christie’s Record Breakers, Newsround, Body Hits & CBBC Presentation), VJ founded a unique media agency in 2010 - Ignite Media UK offering a one-stop service and consultancy for both broadcast and corporate communications creativity in Film, Events and Facilitation. Passionate about producing first class TV programming and events, VJ possess a strong track record in doing just that. Her extensive experience of working on a range of projects and effectively managing production teams, made her appointment as OH TV’s Series Producer & Development Executive a good fit for the company’s progression. When she’s not overseeing all the in-house production, commissioning or scheduling campaigns, she finds time to develop and personally produce original content for the channel. “Real Talk is one of the shows that the audience will really engage with, because it’s their show and they set the agenda!”
