Two women have teamed up to launch Manchester’s only urban Christian music radio station following a number of radio show proposal rejections from established Manchester stations.

‘Vinejuice Radio’ will play urban music genres such as Hip Hop, RnB, Dance, Pop and even Afrobeats. Main point of difference will be that all lyrical content will be of a positive, inspirational and Christian nature.

Adaeze Chiwoko and Lavinia Goddard who run a Christian media company together in Oldham, Greater Manchester felt they had no choice but to launch their own station after recognising that there was a gap on the airwaves for listeners who enjoy urban music but prefer to listen to music that conveys more ‘positive’ messages than those on some mainstream tracks. However, after approaching a number of radio stations with a proposal for a weekly 1-hour show and being turned down, the duo took matters into their own hands.

With the strapline “Manchester’s Positive Playlist”, the online radio station will be officially launched on 29th February and will be available on the vinejuice website as well as the online radio app, TuneIn.

Vinejuice co-founder, Adaeze Chiwoko says: “We really believe that Manchester is full of people who love great music but would also like the option to listen to urban music with lyrics that aim to encourage and inspire. This music is out there but does not get any airplay because current stations have a pre-conceived ideas of what music produced by Christian artists would be.”

Lavinia Goddard, also a founder of Vinejuice said: “We’re excited because it’s so brand new. We are tapping into a huge audience that is currently being completely ignored by radio stations in Manchester and across the UK”.

A Radio station launch party will be held on Sunday 28th February 2016 from 8pm at a Northern Quarter venue, Texture.
