BOMBING KILLS DOZENS IN YOLA, NIGERIA
WEDNESDAY 18TH NOVEMBER 2015
At least 31 people were killed and 72 others injured in a bomb blast in the northeastern Nigerian city of Yola on Tuesday evening, according to Aliyu Maikano, a local Red Cross official.
The explosion occurred at a fruit and vegetable market beside a main road in the Jimeta area of Adamawa's state capital on Tuesday night.
The explosion ripped through the crowded Tipper Garage in the Jambutu area of the city at around 7:48 p.m. local time (1:48 PM ET), shortly after evening prayers, Maikano said.
Tuesday's bombing came less than a month after at least 55 people died when suicide bombings struck two mosques in different cities in northeast Nigeria.
Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari visited Yola on Saturday, declaring that the Islamist militant movement Boko Haram was close to defeat.
