KENYAN ATHLETES WIN NYC MARATHON

Mary Keitany, the 33-year-old Kenyan became the first woman to repeat in New York since world-record holder Paula Radcliffe in 2008. Her margin of victory of 67 seconds was also the largest since Radcliffe that year.
Keitany, who earned $100,000 for her first-place finish, is the sixth Kenyan woman to win in New York.
In the men’s division, Keitany’s countryman Stanley Biwott finished first in 2 hours, 10 minutes and 34 seconds, making this the third consecutive year Kenyans have swept New York.
In the men’s race, 29-year-old Biwott emerged from a packed field of sub-2 hour, five minute marathoners to win his first major and keep Kenyan Wilson Kipsand from winning his second consecutive title. Runner-up Geoffrey Kamworor, 22, of Kenya, trailed by 14 seconds.
