OBAMA TO VISIT KENYA DESPITE TERROR ATTACKS

Despite the recent terrorist attack at one of Kenya’s Universities that claimed more than 140 lives, Obama has assured Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta that he will be visiting in July.

According to The Nation, Obama signalled that he is undeterred by the massacre in Garissa, Mr Obama reiterated that he “looks forward to meeting with President Kenyatta again in Nairobi in July,” according to a White House summary of the two leaders' conversation.

“We will stand hand-in-hand with the Kenyan government and people against the scourge of terrorism and in their efforts to bring communities together,” Mr Obama said in his presidential statement.

President Obama will co-host the Global Summit Entrepreneurship (GES) as part of his 4th presidential trip to Africa.

The summit, which brings together business owners, educators, policymakers and investors to support the growth of new enterprises in developing regions, will be taking place in Africa for the first time. The summit aims to empower marginalised groups, particularly women and youth, through entrepreneurship.

Obama also promised that he will make good on his plan to visit Kenya for the GES which will take place in Nairobi in July. He also reiterated that he looks forward to meeting with President Kenyatta in July, according to a White House summary of the two leaders’ conversation.
