YVONNE NELSON SPEAKS OUT TO GHANAIAN PRESIDENT

YVONNE NELSON URGES GHANAIANS TO TWEET PRESIDENT MAHAMA REGARDING THE LONGEST POWER OUTAGE THE COUNTRY HAS EVER KNOWN Ghanaians have been tweeting their president with pictures of them by candlelight after the actress Yvonne Nelson tweeted:
“Take a pic like this and tag myself and the president @JDMahama with #DumsorMustStop

The post has since received several retweets and many more civilians have posted their own pictures.

Dumsor is a popular Ghanaian term used to describe persistent electric power outages, which means on/off. The term was adopted because of the frequent blackouts due to insufficient power supply.
Many companies are collapsing due to this on-going issue.

The institute of Statistical, Social and Economic Research (ISSER) in a recent research found out that Ghana lost about 1 billion dollars in 2014 alone because of Dumsor. There have been several promises from the current government to fix it but so far many have argued that they have failed to deliver.

Other top stars such as Sarkodie, Efya and Ama K Abebrese have also spoken out against the power crisis over social media.
