10-YEAR-OLD UNIVERISTY UNDERGRADUATE
TUESDAY 10TH MARCH 2015

You may look at this youngster and think she’s your average ten your old at primary school, enjoying childhood and making her ten year old self memories. But what is fascinating about young Esther Okade is her mathematic abilities and fast progression, in terms of her education.

Esther Okade loves to dress up as ‘Elsa’ from ‘Frozen’, going to the park and shopping trips. But extremely rare for her age, Esther is also a university undergraduate. 10 year old for Walsall, Birmingham enrolled for UK Open University in January and is now surpassing her classmates with 100% on a recent exam she sat.

THE STORY BEHIND THIS YOUNG MASTERMIND

Esther has always been ahead of the game when it comes to mathematics, she sat her first GCSE when she was only 6 years old at her primary school in Wolverhampton and received a grade A the second time around. Last year, the young genius passed her A-level maths exam with another outstanding A Grade.

Mother Efe spoke about how Esther had been home schooled, and that she recognised that her daughter was excelling in maths at the young age of four and going above and beyond the topics covered for her age. Esther was dealing with figures in algebra and quadratic equations.

YOUNG HOPES AND DREAMS

Esther plans to finish her degree course in two years, and then do her PhD in financial maths when she is 13. Esther said “I want to have my own bank by the time I'm 15 because I like numbers and I like people and banking is a great way to help people."

Although incredibly intelligent and homeschooled, Esther’s university decision was not made by her parents, Efe (her mother) actually believed it was a lot to take on as a young child and told Esther to “calm down” and wait. However, after three years of begging Efe finally agreed to look into the idea of university for her daughter.
