Black Women: In The Media’ in association with Paparazzi Studio and Hair by Sleek, is a three part documentary TV series that gives an exclusive insight into some of the UK’s most successful and talented women, paving the way in the Media Industry today.

Meet The Programme Team

                   

Mirat  Balkandali


Mirat is one of the leading and inspiring figures within the OH TV family. Previously he has worked for the Islam Channel as a Director, Sound Engineer and Cam Operator specialising in News and Current affairs. Not only is he part of the Studio Management team but he is also the Director behind flagship shows such as “Real Talk”, “Headlines”, “OH Happy Day”, “Telling Tales” and “The Kubi Springer Show”. Being an Audio Engineering specialist he has worked with many high profile acts within the Music Industry as well as in Broadcasting.

Andrew Webber


Head of Post Production
Andrew is an editor/director with over five years of experience. He started as a director’s assistant for the BBC and Channel 4 before becoming an offline editor for a number of independent media companies and broadcast channels. Andrew currently manages all of OH TV’s post production including content created for external clients. He has been accredited on over 200 longform broadcast programmes and a vast collection of music and promotion videos. He recently finished editing the African Movie Academy Award© winning (Edward Kagutuzi – Best Young Actor) ‘The Mirror Boy’, the first feature film by OH Films, starring critically acclaimed actress Genevieve Nnaji.

Kubi Springer


Marketing & Media Specialist Kubi Springer has over 14 years in the international marketing, media and entertainment industry. Starting her career as an intern under PR guru Rachel B, Kubi has since delivered campaigns for some of the biggest brands in the world including: Nike, Justin Timberlake, Rio Ferdinand, New York Fashion Week, The Brit Awards, Atari Games, MTV and Blue Flame (Puff Daddy’s Marketing & Advertising Agency). At just 26 years old, Kubi was appointed as the youngest ‘Head of Marketing and Brand Communications’ for the MOBO Awards and worked with MOBO Founder Kanya King to secure the title sponsorship deal valued at over £1.6 million. Described as “the UK’s Oprah” by BlackWeekly.com USA; Kubi has received global media coverage including BBC Radio London, South Africa Today, Metro New York, LA Muscle TV, Guardian Newspaper, Pride Magazine and International Women’s Month Magazine to name but a few. Kubi was also the only international press at the Essence Magazine ‘Women Who Are Shaping the World Conference’ 2008 in New York City.

Michelle Brooks


Producer/Editor
TV Producer, Advertising & Presentation Specialist & Founder of Production Company Show Patrol – Michelle Brooks has over 14 years experience in the TV industry. She started her career as an actress at the prestigious Rose Bruford School of Speech and Drama before an injury forced her to change direction. She has worked extensively for the BBC as well as the Community Channel, Red Bee Media and OH TV. In addition to programming, Michelle works with OH Creative on branding.

VJ Davidson


VJ DAVIDSON, Series Producer & Development Executive, OH TV After a successful 14 year career at the BBC, working on high quality, popular and innovative TV programming (including Horizon, Liquid News, Linford Christie’s Record Breakers, Newsround, Body Hits & CBBC Presentation), VJ founded a unique media agency in 2010 - Ignite Media UK offering a one-stop service and consultancy for both broadcast and corporate communications creativity in Film, Events and Facilitation. Passionate about producing first class TV programming and events, VJ possess a strong track record in doing just that. Her extensive experience of working on a range of projects and effectively managing production teams, made her appointment as OH TV’s Series Producer & Development Executive a good fit for the company’s progression. When she’s not overseeing all the in-house production, commissioning or scheduling campaigns, she finds time to develop and personally produce original content for the channel. “Real Talk is one of the shows that the audience will really engage with, because it’s their show and they set the agenda!”
